Diary of a Madman photoshoot
I did some photos yesterday morning for UBC's production of Diary of a Madman, a play written and directed by MFA candidate David Savoy, adapted from the short story by Nikolai Gogol.
The shot above was taken with three wireless flash heads set to what's known as "stroboscopic mode." My two assistants (thanks guys!) held the flash units to the right and left of our Madman, while 15 pulses of light captured the other actors' movement over the span of a 6 second exposure. David turned the house lights on and off between shots so we could see what we were doing.
Diary of a Madman has been chosen as the top entry in the 18th International Festival of Theatre Schools. In a few short weeks (April 15-19th), the team will be traveling to the Czech Republic to perform in Brno at the Setkani/Encounter 2008. Pictured from left to right are, back row: Ira Cooper, Ryan Warden, front row: Maura Halloran, Aslam Husain, and Kate Hilderman. (This time last year, I was acting opposite Kate in a very fun production of Overruled by G.B. Shaw, also directed by David. For a blast from the past and a few candid photos I took of the cast at our costume fitting, click here).
The company is currently fundraising for their production and travel expenses. If you would like information on how to get invloved as a sponsor please call Deb Pickman at 604.319.7656.
