Last week, a few days before the Labour Day long weekend, I met up with my friends Steve and Zoe in Field, BC and went on a multi-day hiking vacation through Yoho National Park in the Rockies.
It being a holiday, I forgot my camera gear at home. Steve & Zo challenged me to shoot with their point-and-shoot, a fully automatic number bought in a clearance sale at a drug store early in the decade. It had survived a journey through the washing machine and was showing signs of fatigue; the zoom didn't retract all the way and, as is typical with older digital cameras, the shutter lag was so pronounced it made catching peak action a game of chance. "It's the photographer, not the camera, right?" Steve said with a smile. I took the bait and promised I'd publish my blog entry using nothing but images taken with their p&s.

I liked these plants.
The Twin Falls Chalet: 14 beds. No electricity, no running hot water, but plenty of character and home-cooked meals if you stay overnight.
More views from the Whaleback:
Big skies.
We stayed in a pet-friendly bed & breakfast in the little town of Field, on the same street as this church.
Zoe leaving the Tara Shanti lodge by Kootenay Lake.
A few minutes later, we shared breakfast in Gray Creek.
This T-shirt mirrored our own internal state after braving the gravel road that leads to Gray Creek.

Fabrice, I am constantly amazed by camera skills and incredible eye. Thanks for sharing! -Guy

Wow Fab, nice work. I can't believe you got those great shots out of our crappy little camera.

BTW, the hike was the "Whaleback" not the Saddleback.

Thanks guys. And doh... Whaleback... whaleback... Saddleback does have a nice ring to it though, doesn't it? I've made the correction.
